The Longest Day Ever

O.K. There was no LSU game today and this day is just going on forever. This morning we did the JDRF walk at LSU. I was very happy with the turnout for our team from Coca-Cola there was about 15 people which is alot for us. We also raised about $800 and Coke will match up to $500 and that the most we have ever raised. Carole was volunteering at the Baton Rouge Dream Center so I dropped E off with her and then there was nothing going on the rest of this long day. I got home and watched a little football and took a nap on the couch.

I have to work Tomorrow, all day, I will be going to the Angola Prison Rodeo. If you have never made it to the rodeo I strongly recommend it. It is the neatest thing and you can get some really neat stuff there and it is all hand made by the prisoner's. They do it every Sunday in October. They have done shows on T.V. on the rodeo.

That was a long ride home. The people I went to the game with decided to head back to BR that night so we left at around 10pm and drove straight through. I got home at 7am Sunday.

I've been on vacation this week so I don't have to hear every want-to -be-coach in BR say that they would have done this or that to win the game and they would have won it to.

We play Kentucky this weekend. Now lets get ready for Saturdays game. The Wildcats have a better team then other years but LSU should take this one easily. This games on TigerVision so there should be a good bit of people out there.

Gators/ Luckeyes

Ok, I leave for the game tomorrow and I can't wait. I,m gonna try to leave around 2pm that would put me at Karen and Brads around 11pm.

This week took forever. I think that LSU has a good shot at this game, If the Tigers throw the ball to set up the run. Now I'm not one of thous people who think they know more than the people getting paid to do it. That's just a thought.

The other day I was talking to Dennis about football. Which he knows nothing about. The reason I say this is he thinks the Ohio State "Luckeyes" have the toughest schedule in collage football. Now up to this point they have had a tough one but look at who they play Bowling Green (not ranked) then Michigan State (not ranked and may not have a coach) Indiana ( not ranked) Minnesota (who) Illinois (I thought they just had a field for when the Bears were building there new stadium not for football) Northwestern ( again not ranked) then they get there perfect season gone for there hardest game of the season The Michigan Wolverines.

Ticket

O.K. I got a ticket to the LSU/Florida football game for this weekend. I've never been to Florida's stadium before. This should be a very good game.

Florida is #5 in every poll out there. My goal is to see the Tigers play in every SEC stadium. I've been to Old Miss and Georgia.

ESPN's GameDay is gonna be there. So it should be a little crazy around there.

I will be going with my friends Jimmy Clyde , Karen (LSU Fan) & Brad (Gator fan) Harvey, and their young'ins. Carole is staying here in BR with the kids. She's the best.

Mississippi State

O.K. I've got two things here. First thing is the Steelers wont lose this week because they have a bye week. Big Ben is just not the same right now ( he did just bounce off a car this summer and have an emergency apendectomy before the first game of the season) But they will do better. They will make it to the Super Bowl and play the Saints and win it.

Next LSU plays Mississippi State this weekend at 11:30am. I hate early games it's not right. The Tigers are supose to play at night. But the will still win this game hands down State is not a good team they got beat by Tulane two weeks ago and had a hard time against UAB last week but did win that one. I think Lsu will have another great game of running the ball and throwing it.

Wake up

O.K. I know we played Tulane this past weekend but still you don't fall asleep inside Tiger Stadium. That is what my lovely wife did. She put her head on my shoulder and I was talking to her telling her about the game and she never answered me I look at her and she is sleeping. Yes, she was at the talegate helping me from around 12:30, she didn't get her nap and the next day she came down with the flu but still....

Not the end of the world

O.K. It's not the end of the world here. Yes LSU lost and the refs did not help out any with the bad calls. The SEC said there was no bad call in the game. (Don't know what game they watched but it was not this one) But play calling was not all that good either.

Now don't get me wrong I still like this coach and I think he will change his play calling next time. Like when you can't get the run game going.

The defense looked great they are #1 in total defense, # 1 in pass efficiency defense and tied for 1st in team interceptions with 6, with 7 other teams.

They play the Green Wave of Tulane this weekend and should just knock this team to the moon. LSU should run and pass at will. LSU will put this game away quick.

Auburn

O.K. Lets get ready to rumble. I think that's what they need to say before they start the game. Because this is gonna be a battle. Auburn has a great team that why they are ranked 3rd in the nation. There running game is really good lead by Kenny Irons who ran for 218yrds last year at tiger stadium. I think the winner of this game will not only win the SEC but also play in the National Campionship Game. Now I could be wrong but I don't think so. Both teams to me look that good. So on that note I have to pick the score.

How 'bout them Tigers?

First I would like to take a moment to look back at what happened 5 years ago this day. I know where I was and what I was doing. Carole and I just watch the last 30 minutes of the T.V. show they played and we just sat there with mouths open holding back tears. Just take a couple of minutes out of your day and pray for the families that lost love ones.

O.K. The winner of this weeks pick was yours truly. I missed it by 7.

Did they look good or what. There are still people out there talking about how this team is still not that good. They said that because they could not score a T.D. on the first drive. There are some people you just can't please. They just need something to fuss about. The Tigers have out scored the teams they played 90 to 6. The Tigers are 4 in the nation in passing and on defensive 1st on points allowed 5th on interceptions with 5. LSU's defense has not allowed a touchdown in 14 quarters.

Next

O.K. First of all the winner for the first week was Bradley and Keri. They both missed it by 7 points.

Now lets talk about the next victim. The Arizona Wildcats. This team is a step up from the Cajuns but not to big one. They only rushed for 67 yard and gained just 253 total yards there last game. So I really don't think this will be one of those end of your seat games.

The Tigers should do very well this game Russell should have just as many yards passing and I think the running game will be much better. The game starts at 5:30 and it will be on ESPN 2.

I will make it to this game. Carole and I could not find tickets to the last game. There were no ticket out there. I think I tried to late to get them. So we went to Buffalo Wild Wings and watched the game there. We had a good time.

Game Day

O.K. It's finally here "GAME DAY". The first game of the season. I'm so ready.

Last night Carole and I went to the Mobel station in Cental (a little town out side of BR) and got us a Tiger Burger. Now if you live here and have not had one you need to go get one. They are awsome.

This may start a new tradition for the Turner family. Our freind Karen told us about them and the other day on her blog she said how she missed them and Carole said lets go get one. Sorry Karen but it was sooo good.

O.K. I ate breakfast this morning with my good friend Ron (yes that Ron from Rons World Rons World). And he said I need to ask what ya'll thought the score would be for the FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON. O.K. This team my not be a walk in the park like everyone thinks. This team looks pretty good on paper and I'm not the only one that thinks this. They are picked to win the tuff Sunbelt conference. They have a pretty good running game and passing game. Last year there QB threw for over 800 yards(now that's a lot) and there RB ran for over 1000 yards. They have 16 starters returning. SORRY I can't do this anymore LSU should manhandle this team. They are so much better then this team. J V will have a 100yrd game Russel will play until halftime and Matt will come in and we may see Ryan. Then every want to be coach will call in the sports talk radio show and let us know how should be QB(never the one that gonna start the next week) and why.

O.K. There was not one thing on the fire in Tiger Stadium in today's paper. So I went to LSUSPORTS.NET and found this.

BATON ROUGE -- LSU has issued the following information pertaining to a fire inside Gate 3 of Tiger Stadium on Sunday evening.
At approximately 6:25 p.m. on Aug. 20, LSU Police Headquarters received an alarm at Tigers Concessions inside Gate 3 at Tiger Stadium. Upon arrival LSU Police Department officers discovered a fire inside the Tigers Concession Office and summoned Baton Rouge Fire Department. BRFD arrived on the scene at 6:30 p.m.
Due to the unknown nature of the fire, LSUPD Investigators worked with BRFD Arson Investigators and Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) to determine the cause of the fire.
Investigators from LSU Police, BRFD, and ATF conducted a follow up investigation regarding the fire. As a result of information provided by a witness minutes after the fire and the assistance of BRPD, investigators located several juveniles who were allegedly inside Tiger Stadium when the fire occurred.
Interviews with the juveniles and their parents resulted in the arrest of three Juveniles for Trespassing and one Juvenile for Simple Arson. The Juveniles ranged in age from 9 to 14 years old. Officers anticipate one additional arrest of a Juvenile related to the Trespassing charge in Tiger Stadium


We have the worst sports section in our paper ever. They don't cover anything good. just watch the news and you can see what gonna be in the paper in 2 days. I'm looking for a good web site for LSU sports for free but can't find one. Let know if you know of one.

O.K. I always wanted to be one of those dads that they show on t.v. when there kid does something good in sports. Like when my girl makes the winning basket for the Lady Tigers and my boy runs in for the winning T.D. But just a minute ago I brought steele a drink and he was sitting in his chair kicked back watching Barney with his hand halfway down his diaper(Al Bundy style). Thats my boy.

We have just over 2 weeks left and I can't what to see that band get on the field, spell out L S U , play the LSU Fight Song , form the tunnel for the players to run out on the field and kick some Cajun butt. O.K. I was driving to one of my accouts and started thinking of the best sports movies I have seen. Theres so many and I know I can't think of them all. So I thought I would get ya'lls help. One of mine is DAYS OF THUNDER. I thought this movie was so cool and still is. When I first saw the movie I so bad wanted to be a Nascar driver and still do. One more would be Bull Durham. This would have to be the best movie that Kevin Costner was ever in.
